FIJI

Another of those paradise on earth places. Nadi airport is small but sufficient, with regular Air NZ flights. The islands are extremely picturesque, with lots of local colour. There are some superb restaurants. Most of the hotels are sufficient, but not the most modern in the world. Most tourists are young Aussies or NZ with a smattering of Brits. Hardly any Yanks. For the young a day trip to beachcomber island is essential. Book in your hotel, it is a truly fabulous day, and very reasonable. The sugarcane trains and lorries are worth a photo. Amazingly there are streetwalkers here at night! They look seriously out of place, but it is all very laid back and you certainly don’t feel there is any danger about. Everyone should go here once in their life. See pictures in Mike's round the world tour.
